Friday, October 15, 2010 Terrorizing Target?

The White House is escalating its assault on corporate political donors, claiming that Democrats merely favor "disclosure." To understand their real goal, consider what happened to Target Corp. when it exercised its First Amendment rights in Minnesota.

In July, the superstore retailer based in Minneapolis donated $150,000 to an independent group called MN Forward, which used the funds to support the primary candidacy of Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer. Consistent with Target's interest, the donation helped pay for an ad highlighting Mr. Emmer's positions on taxes and spending, issues relevant to the state's business climate. Because Mr. Emmer was also a critic of gay marriage, however, within weeks the retailer found itself on the national left's political hit list. led the attack, organizing a petition and crafting a TV ad telling shoppers to boycott the chain. Soliciting donations to the anti-Target crusade, MoveOn warned that "Target became one of the first corporations to take advantage of the Citizens United decision when it donated to a far-right candidate for governor in Minnesota." It added, "If we don't fight back, this will be just the tip of the iceberg." Citizen's United is the January Supreme Court decision that said unions and companies can donate to independent political groups, which is what Target did.

Thanks for posting this, Teresa. I heard O'Reilly mention it the other night, but I missed the TV segment on the subject. This is typical left wing tactics.
Have a nice weekend.

I bought a bunch of stuff at Target this week. And the week before. And a couple of weeks before that.

Most Rev. Gregori said..., along with the rest of the liberal leftist crowd, including Obama, can just kiss me where the sun don't shine, and I wish the gays would all crawl back under whatever rock they crawled out from under. I won't apologize for that comment either, because it is the left that turned the United States into a moral cesspool.

And as far as the Democrats wanting disclosure from the Republicans as to where their donations come from, how about the Dems disclosing where the millions of dollars in campaign donations to Obama's campaign in 2008, came from? All we know is that they originated in the Middle East.

It will not work, period.

Simple reason, the economy.

Like them (Walmart) or not they sell goods cheap and where do people shop in a bad (really bad) economy?

Then there is the question of employment. Walmart employs local folk wherever they open a store, so what people will boycott thier own livelyhood in a bad economy let alone these people have rejected unioniztion over and over again?

Now that last bit of info is the real reason for this action (or hope of it). It is all about unionization of Walmart employees.

No, it is high time people boycott Moveon or whatever these socialists call themselves; using Obamas words "All these innocuous sounding names"

I guess I'll be doing some shopping at Target next time I'm in Reno. I can use a break from WalMart.
