Mark Steyn Calls Ron Paul's Worldview 'Sheer stupid, half-witted parochialism'

During Mark Steyn's regular appearance on Hugh Hewitt's radio show he explained why the "truther-ism" aspects of Paul's and his supporters beliefs wouldn't hold up.

From The Daily Caller:

“This by the way is not an irrelevant thing because it gets to the heart of the most disfiguring aspect of Ron Paul’s campaign — leaving aside his unpleasantness to Michele Bachmann the other night and all the rest of it — which is this stunted parochialism.” Steyn said. “Let’s say for a moment 9/11 was an inside job. Does that also mean the Bali night club bombing was an inside job? That the Madrid train bombing was an inside job? That the Beslan school shooting was an inside job? That the London tube bombings were an inside job? In that case, that’s one hell of a sum to be hiding somewhere within the darkest recesses of Dick Cheney’s specific line items.”
And that, says Steyn, along with his isolationist view on foreign policy, is where Paul “meets the left.”
“So we’re getting here into what is the problem with Ron Paul, which is the sheer stupid half-witted parochialism of his view of what’s going on out on the planet,” he said. “And that’s why this is — this is a kind of utopian isolationism that fantasists on the right have embraced and at its darkest side, it meets the left coming around the other way in 9/11 truther conspiracy theories.”

Mark Steyn is spot on.

I have found further confirmation and explanation via Proof at Say Anything Blog that Ron Paul is much more of an isolationist than I had previously thought. In Proof's post Ron Paul On Foreign Policy: "Most Assuredly An Isolationist", Eric Dondero, a former senior aide for Ron Paul, reveals Ron Paul's radically rigid isolationist foreign policy views.

From Eric Dondero:

It’s his foreign policy that’s the problem; not so much some stupid and whacky things on race and gays he may have said or written in the past.

Ron Paul is most assuredly an isolationist
. He denies this charge vociferously.

But I can tell you straight out, I had countless arguments/discussions with him over his personal views. For example, he strenuously does not believe the United States had any business getting involved in fighting Hitler in WWII. He expressed to me countless times, that “saving the Jews,” was absolutely none of our business. When pressed, he often times brings up conspiracy theories like FDR knew about the attacks of Pearl Harbor weeks before hand, or that WWII was just “blowback,” for Woodrow Wilson’s foreign policy errors, and such.
I would challenge him, like for example, what about the instances of German U-boats attacking U.S. ships, or even landing on the coast of North Carolina or Long Island, NY. He’d finally concede that that and only that was reason enough to counter-attack against the Nazis, not any humanitarian causes like preventing the Holocaust.
There is much more information I could give you on the sheer lunacy of his foreign policy views. Let me just concentrate on one in specific. And I will state this with absolute certainty:
Ron Paul was opposed to the War in Afghanistan, and to any military reaction to the attacks of 9/11. He did not want to vote for the resolution. He immediately stated to us staffers, me in particular, that Bush/Cheney were going to use the attacks as a precursor for “invading” Iraq. He engaged in conspiracy theories including perhaps the attacks were coordinated with the CIA, and that the Bush administration might have known about the attacks ahead of time. He expressed no sympathies whatsoever for those who died on 9/11, and pretty much forbade us staffers from engaging in any sort of memorial expressions, or openly asserting pro-military statements in support of the Bush administration.
On the eve of the vote, Ron Paul was still telling us staffers that he was planning to vote “No,” on the resolution, and to be prepared for a seriously negative reaction in the District. Jackie Gloor and I, along with quiet nods of agreement from the other staffers in the District, declared our intentions to Tom Lizardo, our Chief of Staff, and to each other, that if Ron voted No, we would immediately resign.
Ron was “under the spell” of left-anarchist and Lew Rockwell associate Joe Becker at the time, who was our legislative director. Norm Singleton, another Lew Rockwell fanatic agreed with Joe. All other staffers were against Ron, Joe and Norm on this, including Lizardo. At the very last minute Ron switched his stance and voted “Yay” (sic)…

I think this reveals a hard-core isolationism which is disturbing. How could Paul not see the legitimacy of the U.S. having entered WWII in order to stop Hitler from murdering countless Jews as well as other innocents?  This is where Paul's rugged individualism -every man for himself - conflicts with justice and promoting the common good.  We must protect those most vulnerable in our society. I guess this is another instance of his belief that states or a state has the right to do wrong, even if it is morally abhorrent.  That is an unjustifiably morally unacceptable position.  It would have been morally unacceptable for nations to allow the extermination of the Jews to continue.  Paul's foreign policy views are too dangerous not only for me but for all Americans, America, and for him to be commander-in-chief.  I cannot wrap my head around how any sane individual could hold these types of foreign policy beliefs.

Islamist Bombings Across Nigeria Hit Catholic Church On Christmas Day

On what is supposed to be the most holy, joyous and peaceful days of the year a series of bombings has rocked across Nigeria.  St. Theresa Catholic Church was hit in one of the blasts.  A spokesman from the Islamist sect Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for the bombings.  Between Christmas Eve and Christmas Day there were five bombings across Nigeria.  According to The Telegraph Boko Haram is responsible for 491 killings across Nigeria just this past year.  When are world leaders going to denounce this Islamist group along with other violent Islamist sects around the world?  How much killing has to happen in order for the world to wake up and respond justly?  We need to stand up for the defenseless in these countries where Islamofascists  have spread intolerance and violence, and targeted Christians, Jews, and anyone who refuses to submit to Islam, specifically Sharia Law.  The Boko Haram haven't been declared a terrorist organization? What?!?

The Telegraph reports:
 "We have in these three vehicles (ambulances) 15 corpses," a rescue source told the AFP news agency at the scene on condition of anonymity. He said the toll was likely to be higher since he believed other rescuers were also pulling out bodies.  People were inside the church at the time of the blast, but Mr Shuaib could not say how many.  Nigeria's emergency agency said it did not have enough ambulances available to evacuate the dead and the wounded.  A second explosion was subsequently heard in the central Nigerian town of Jos.

White House Condemns Nigeria Bombing: MyFoxNY.com

The White House has condemned the bombings in Nigeria.  Hopefully more leaders will follow suit. Prayers for peace...

Smitty at The Other McCain has a good take on the plight of Christians in the Middle East and in Africa. He has also channeled Edmund Burke in his Edasurc post.  It is quite apropos IMO.

Merry Christmas!

I found this on Appleseeds.org

Keeping Christmas. . . . . . . . . . . . . . Henry Van Dyke

There is a better thing than the observance of Christmas day,
and that is, keeping Christmas.
Are you willing…
     to forget what you have done for other people,
     and to remember what other people have done for you;
     to ignore what the world owes you,
     and to think what you owe the world;
     to put your rights in the background,
     and your duties in the middle distance,
     and your chances to do a little more than your duty in the foreground;
     to see that men and women are just as real as you are,
     and try to look behind their faces to their hearts, hungry for joy;
     to own up to the fact that probably the only good reason
     for your existence is not what you are going to get out of life,
     but what you are going to give to life;
     to close your book of complaints against the management of the universe,
     and look around you for a place where you can sow a few seeds
     of happiness—
Are you willing to do these things even for a day?
     Then you can keep Christmas.
Are you willing to stoop down and consider
     the needs and desires of little children;
     to remember the weakness and loneliness of people growing old;
     to stop asking how much your friends love you,
     and ask yourself whether you love them enough;
     to bear in mind the things that other people have to bear in their hearts;
     to try to understand what those who live in the same home with you
     really want, without waiting for them to tell you;
     to trim your lamp so that it will give more light and less smoke,
     and to carry it in front so that your shadow will fall behind you;
     to make a grave for your ugly thoughts, and a garden for your kindly feelings
     with the gate open—
Are you willing to do these things, even for a day?
     Then you can keep Christmas.
Are you willing to believe that love is the strongest thing in the world—
     stronger than hate, stronger than evil, stronger than death—
     and that the blessed life which began in Bethlehem nineteen hundred years ago
     is the image and brightness of the Eternal Love?
Then you can keep Christmas.
And if you can keep it for a day, why not always? But you can never keep it alone.

Here are some Christmas tunes:

Wishing everyone the joy and peace of Jesus now and all year through.

Merry Christmas!

This is SICK! - Food and Vaccines Contain Aborted Cells?

~Together Post With Guest Blogger Kevin~

Enjoyed a Pepsi lately?  How about some Tropicana orange juice?  Or Gatorade?  Nestle creamer in your coffee?  Dentyne or Trident to freshen your breath, or Certs?  No doubt you believed these to be innocent products and perfectly legitimate, morally irreproachable purchases.  You will feel differently in a moment when you read what I am about to reveal to you.  Many of these products have been flavor tested using fetal tissue, specifically taste receptor cells.  Yes, you heard that right. There are companies using human cells from our innocent unborn babies which have been murdered at the hands of abortionists.  This is SICK, folks.  Our society has become so morally bankrupt it is so horrifying.  As I write this I just got up from watching "The Debt" starring Helen Mirren.  The Nazi doctor in that movie is based on Joseph Mengele, the Butcher of Birkenau.  This hideous use of the body parts of murdered unborn infants reminds me of the sort of monstrous experimentation that Mengele performed.   But this is not a movie.  This is a disturbing reality, and it continues to unfold right before our eyes whenever we see someone drinking a Sierra Mist at a diner or taking a sip from a bottle of Aquafina as they stroll past us, pathetically oblivious to the crime in which they have become unwittingly complicit.  Americans have sunk to a whole new low. How much lower can we sink?

Some of the companies and products include: Lipton, Frito-Lay, Aunt Jemima, Rice-A-Roni, Kraft, and Cadbury.  Some companies even use fetal cells as a product ingredient in vaccines, skin creams, and other items.  I will be boycotting these companies products.  We need to send them a loud and clear message that this methodology for testing products taste is unacceptable.  They are experimenting with unborn babies flesh. What a bunch of amoral psychopaths to think doing this is an acceptable practice.

Many claim that people reporting on this are spreading rumors but even PepsiCo's shareholders have "filed a resolution with the government office, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to demand they stop using fetal cell derived products because it was unnecessary and hurting business."

My Thoughts on Federalist Paper Number 6: The Tenth Amendment and Dissension Among the States

After reading Federalist Paper No. 6 which was written by Alexander Hamilton I noticed that he was concerned with disunity among the states.  After thinking, doesn't his concern for disunity among the states present a case against the tenth amendment?  I realize some may think that different states can be laboratories for experiment with various policies such as health care or education but Franklin's concern for dissension among the states gives me pause when I think of the tenth amendment.  Shouldn't the states be uniform in their policies so as to not cause confusion either morally, politically or financially?  But, isn't dissension and disagreement among the states what gave the federal government more power? Or was it due to man's lust for power, ambition, or vindictiveness? Maybe their wouldn't be dissension or discord among the states morally if they held different policies? The federal mandates we have today are far reaching and uniform among the states so this would be a case made for the tenth amendment.  We do need to take power away from the centralized government - federal government - and return it to the states. I am glad that some states have made progress in instituting pro-life laws.  That is another case in favor of the tenth amendment. There needs to be a healthy balance between which programs are relegated to the states and which are relegated to the federal government.  It is extremely unbalanced now, where the federal government has been granted too much power.

Do Palestinians Really See and Treat Jerusalem as Holy?

Palestinians claim that Jerusalem is a "Muslim holy site" but dishonor it with irreverence and disrespectful actions. Jerusalem is considered a holy site by both Jews and Christians, who treat it with reverence.

Will SOPA End The Internet As We Know It? Does The Manager's Amendment Protect Citizens Free Speech?

If SOPA is passed will there be extensive, crippling internet censorship?  According to Opie's son SOPA will cause massive internet censorship.  Last night I learned of the Manager's Amendment which was added to the bill.  Does this amendment address the concerns that citizens have about this anti-piracy legislation indiscriminately targeting American citizens First Amendment rights on the internet?   The ACLJ seems to think that the Manager's Amendment to SOPA addresses this issue. Our congress critters are way too willing to give up citizens liberties in the name of "protection" or "safety".  David Gorodyansky of Forbes says that SOPA is the "equivalent of the Great Firewall of China here at home."

Beck: If the Tea Party Supports Gingrich Over Obama 'It Must Be About Race' ; Breitbart Rails Against Beck

First, here are the words from the horse's mouth.

Does Beck have an alter ego or something? One of sensibility and the other of insensibility? This is an outrageous comment!  He is feeding the liberal media. Beck needs to stop giving liberals fodder with such an irresponsible and fallacious comment.  To think that Gingrich believes in progressive policies just as Barack Obama does is preposterous.

One difference between Obama and Gingrich that I can think of right off the bat is Obama signed into law Obamacare and Newt has vowed to repeal Obamacare.

Second, now you can listen to Breitbart as he gives beck a tongue-lashing.  And, deservedly so IMO.

I have to say I am surprised to find out about this feud between Andrew Breitbart and Glenn Beck.  It is sad to see two conservatives having so much animosity toward one another.

I found this spot-on quote from Stacy McCain, the Master of Conservative Bloggery  via the Big Dog Conservative Maestro, Bob, from over at The Camp Of The Saints.

From The Other McCain:

While I have defended Beck against his critics in the past, his recent antics certainly lend credence to the claims of those critics who call him a "rodeo clown." I perfectly understand his assertion that Gingrich and Obama are different flavors of progressivism, but to say that the only reason Tea Party voters support Gingrich is racism? C’mon: That’s ridiculously irresponsible.
While I am not a model of dispassionate discourse, Beck’s emotionalism makes him a dangerous political ally. It is difficult to distinguish between his principles and his mood.
This comment hits the nail on the head.

Bob also posted this quote from Andrew Patrick:

…He has adopted the Garafalo argument, hook line and sinker, for no better reason than to needlessly disparage those who might favor Newt Gingrich for the GOP nomination. Principled conservatives can argue over whether Gingrich is really one of us or not. But to pretend that his proposed policies differ in no significant way from Obama’s is to argue something demonstrably false. Gingrich may not be a Tea Partier; he cannot be an Obama Democrat.
That Beck has so tiresomely elided these differences indicates how erratic a tribune he has become.

Last, I recommend that you go over to Bob's Paradise of Conservative Blogging to see a quote of a scenario on our Founding Father James Otis which is apropos and may shed some light onto the whole Beck fiasco.   Maybe Beck should insert foot into mouth?

MIni Eagle Freedom Links -Coca-Cola Christmas--12-13-11

I have decided to do a series of Mini Eagle Freedom Links this week since I have been feeling fatigued. Probably partially due to my having a Vitamin B12 deficiency.  I'm working on remedying that.  I still get a little dizzy but thankfully not near as much as before.  Still waiting for results from my colonoscopy and endoscopy.  It still hurts when I breathe.  Not quite as bad as it was, thankfully. I am heading to the ENT doctor on Thursday to find out whether the tube that was in my throat during my surgery is what has caused my throat problems.  I am very thankful that I am in the process of fixing my medical issues and that I am feeling better than before.  The month of December seems to be flying by very quickly. Is everyone ready for Christmas?  Got all your holiday decorations up and presents wrapped?  Still shopping for that special person?  I still need to put up my Christmas tree and decorations.  Have you been watching any Christmas movies?  I hope everyone is enjoying this Christmas season.

Bizarre Love Triangle: Girl Scouts, Planned Parenthood, and National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry

Activists have already exposed the link between the Girls Scouts and Planned Parenthood.  Now it seems that the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM) is also complicit in this evil. Doing nothing, looking the other way, and ignoring the reality of the relationship between Planned Parenthood and the Girl Scouts is being complicit in evil.

In an interview on the "Today" show in 2004 the Girls Scouts CEO Cathy Cloninger admitted that the Girl Scouts does work with the nations leading abortion provider, Planned Parenthood.

"We partner with many organizations. We have relationships with our church communities, with YWCAs and with Planned Parenthood organizations across the country, to bring information-based sex education programs to girls," Cloninger told Lester Holt.

Sharon Slater, the President of Family Watch International, attempted to attend a workshop in 2010 which was sponsored by the Girl Scouts at the United Nations  that was part of a conference on women's rights. She sat in the back of the room but was quickly told that the event was for 'girls only' and was asked to leave.

She waited for the workshop to end and then made her way into the classroom where the workshop had taken place.  She found participant handouts on the table and was shocked by the content in the pamphlets.

What Sharon found was a sexually explicit booklet called, "Happy, Healthy and Hot," which included the contact information for International Planned Parenthood Federation.

"The booklet teaches girls that they have a right to engage in any type of sexual activity they desire," Sharon said.
"But perhaps most shocking was the advice in the booklet that if they happened to be HIV-positive it was completely up to them to decide whether to inform any sexual partner of their condition."

After she reported the booklet in the "Family Watch" newsletter her credibility was called into question. The fact that her credibility was questioned isn't surprising. This is how the Left eliminates its competition through character assassination.

After her report was published Sharon gained national media attention but the Girl Scouts denied that there was any connection between Planned Parenthood and them.

Slater noted that parents have no idea "what ideas and values their daughters may be exposed to" as a current Girl Scout so she did something very important to keep parents informed as to what is going on within the Girl Scouts, and documented the findings of her team on her website

"Visitors to her site will find links to documents, screen shots, financial statements and even audio and video of Girl Scout leaders admitting connections that the GSUSA officially denies exist."

In a recent Washington Times article Rebecca Hagelin exposes how the Girls Scouts has been co-opted by the radical feminist pro-sexual promiscuity agenda - aka the feminazis.

Hagelin writes:

In contrast to the Boy Scouts of America – an organization I have long supported and recommended – the Girl Scouts of the United States of America has been co-opted as the functional arm of the Democratic, feminist establishment.
It dupes millions of American families into believing that its only mission is to promote wholesome leadership activities for girls.

Now that you have some background information on the connection between Planned Parenthood and the Girl Scouts I will show you the last piece of this evil corrupt love triangle and the connection between the National Federation of Catholic Youth Ministry, Planned Parenthood and the Girl Scouts.

The Girl Scout whistleblowers want every parent to know the Girl Scouts evil agenda and believe the faith community should be sounding the alarm as well.  But it seems that their efforts have been stymied by the organization which oversees the relationship between the Girl Scouts and the Catholic Church and that the National Federation of Catholic Youth Ministry seems to be preventing the Catholic community from hearing the facts about the connection between Planned Parenthood and the Girl Scouts.

Bob McCarty, the head of NFCYM, said that he had been contacted by some watchdog groups which expressed concern over the connection between Planned Parenthood and the Girl Scouts.    McCarty claims that he has held numerous meetings over Catholics concerns and that the Girl Scouts have addressed his concerns.

In speaking on a NFCYM position paper McCarty stated, "The very existence of a position paper tells you that we see problems with the Girl Scouts," McCarty told WND. "If we didn't see problems, there wouldn't be a need for a position paper."

But then WND notes, "
That paper speaks mainly to an accusation of the GSUSA distributing materials on marriage, abortion, contraception, and sexuality that don't line up with Catholic Church teachings. The paper then describes the NFCYM practice of simply asking the GSUSA if the accusations are true."

Girl Scouting officials claim that "Happy, Healthy, and Hot" wasn't their booklet even though this booklet was discovered immediately after the conclusion of a meeting which was sponsored by the Girl Scouts at the United Nations.  They claim the room wasn't 'sanitized' prior to their occupying it.

From WND:

She tells WND that the GSUSA explanation of not "sanitizing" the room prior to occupying it doesn't jive with the facts.

"It has been suggested, but seems unlikely, that the vulgar 'Healthy, Happy, and Hot' booklets were left in the room by a group from a previous meeting," she says.

She then described how it was the first day of the conference, and the three groups in the room prior to the Girl Scouts were not covering topics that would involve such a booklet.

"It is clear that the Planned Parenthood booklets would not have pertained to the topics covered by these organizations," she says.

Regardless of Slater's eyewitness account, McCarty's position paper says:

"NFCYM was satisfied with the GSUSA account of the UN meeting."

Therein, lies the problem, say the watchdog groups.

'The NFCYM gives the Girl Scouts a nod for all they do," Jane Petry said. Petry, who has four generations of Girl Scouts in her family, has become a vocal critic of the once-revered group.

"The serious error in this is the fact that they [NFCYM] advise the bishops, as they are considered the voice to our girls well being," she said. "Very, very wrong.

"The NFCYM actually has on their board members of the Girl Scouts."

Lisa Larsson is a Catholic mother from Florida who became concerned about the things her niece was being exposed to as a Girl Scout. The more she researched, the more disturbed she became.

She and her sister, Rochelle Focaracci, not only parted ways with their Girl Scout connection, they started one of the watchdog websites, girlscoutswhynot.com, as well.

Their goal is not only to inform parents across the world of the disturbing trends they discover in the Girl Scouts, but to reach church leaders as well.

 The sisters contacted Bob McCarty of the NFCYM to sound the alarm, but they say nothing really changes within the Catholic group.

They also say that it's tough to raise the alarm within the Catholic Church because the bishops tend to defer to the position of the NFCYM on the matter.

"We think that the bishops don't know the extent of the problem."
"If the NFCYM won't call for severing ties with the GSUSA, why would the bishops," Larsson asks?

Larsson and Focaracci tell WND that the NFCYM policy of simply "asking" the Girl Scouts if the accusations are true is appalling.

"It's like the FBI asking a terrorist before he gets on a plane if he's a terrorist. If he says 'no,' then they go ahead and let him get on the plane," says Larsson.

Focaracci said, "The Girl Scouts do not belong in our churches."

Is this another scandal brewing within the Catholic Church?

Here is video of a 67-year old woman named Jane Petry, a life-long Girl Scout member and leader, who picketed outside of the GSUSA National Conference in Houston.  Kevin Williams, a pro-life advocate, traveled to Houston to support her.
