The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry. Well, that's exactly what happened to me. I planned to post a mini links post once per say with at least 15 links but then life got in the way. I had started taking hormones but then my pain increased and increased so then I stopped taking them. On Tuesday I got a migraine headache and I threw up. I'm pretty sure it was because I stopped taking the hormones cold turkey. Wednesday I still felt pretty horrible. Thursday I felt a bit better but have still continued having pain. Friday I felt better but was busy playing catch up with house cleaning and today I'm really starting to feel the effects of not taking hormones - in a fog, here but feeling like I'm not here, hard for me to think and remember stuff, and I have the shakes. I am so sick of being on a yo-yo with my health and these dang hormones. So I will have to take blogging one day at a time.
Two Mondays ago Pope Benedict XVI announced that he would be resigning as Pope at the end of February. When I first saw this on one of the blogs that I frequent I thought it was a hoax or something. Then, I found out the reports were true. I was in shock. I was so surprised because I remember Pope John Paul II having Parkinson's Disease and showing the world how to deal with illness with such grace but then I heard that JPII had even thought of resigning but then decided against it. This is the first time a pope has resigned in over 600 years. While I am sad to see Pope Benedict resign during his last Mass he looked so frail so seeing that and knowing all the great challenges facing the Church maybe the Church does need someone who is in good health and not just of sound mind to defend the Church against its enemies. Pope Benedict was a staunch defender of the Faith and was a great teacher. I also believe that Pope Benedict was courageous and humble to know that he was no longer able to be the visible head of the Catholic Church and to buck over 600 years of the norm, of pope's dying as popes, and resign instead. Whoever is elected the progressives will hate him for one reason - He will be Catholic. May the Holy Spirit guide the Council of Cardinals as they choose a new pope. God Bless Pope Benedict.
Bishop Zubik, my bishop in Pittsburgh, held a press conference discussing the announcement of Pope Benedict's resignation. He first reads the Pope's statement in which he said that he is resigning and then Bishop Zubik gives his thoughts on the Pope's decision to resign. After about the 10 minute 30 second mark he holds a question and answer session.

Thanks for the link. My prayers go out that you will feel better.
Recently, I saw the most insane thing in the WaPo: that the new Pope doesn't necessarily need to be Catholic.
You can't make this stuff up!
I pray that you get better Teresa.
On the topic of Benedict's resignation I was wondering if you were aware of St. Malachy's prophecy's regarding papal succession?
I posted about them a few days ago [Feb. 12] for reference.
My pleasure Bunkerville. Thank you very much for your prayers.
AOW,
That's why even though Capitol Commentary's post is satire I thought it was real or very close to reality. And there ya go and tell me that WaPo did an actual piece saying the Pope doesn't need to be Catholic. I just have to remember that WaPo is a progressive site wishful thinking in fantasy land because it isn't gonna happen. Gotta admit that it made me chuckle a bit.
Christopher,
Thanks so much for your prayers. I am aware of St. Malachy's prophesies but don't know very much about them in detail.
I look forward to seeing your post on St. Malachy's prophesies but I am feeling pretty bad today, don't know whether its cold/flu related or hormone related, but I will stop by your place soon.
Teresa,
No need for thanks as my prayers for you are but a given from one human to another with the addition of much respect.
