That's a hell of a list Teresa, thank you for putting me on it!
WOW... I'm as taken by your baseball tribute as I'm honored to be in the company of these blogs...
Two of your tributes hit close to home, as the Pittsburg Pirates used to spring train here in Ft. Myers... As a 6th grader in Miss Gleason's class, she brought in a black & white tv (all they had back then kiddies) and I was watching live when Bill Mazeroski hit his walkoff home run to win the world series... The next year when the Yankees came to play the pirates for spring training I along with half the kids in town skipped school to be there... The crowd was so large they had us inside the field down the foul lines... Joe Pepitone of the Yankees hit what was actually a fair ball down the right field foul line... What seemed like a good idea at the time (seriously, it would have rolled under the bleachers and been a ground rule double, that's my story and I'm sticking to it) this eleven year old jumped on it and was immediately scolded in Spanish by one Roberto Clemente... I say scolded because I don't speak Spanish, and I doubt seriously that Roberto was saying "nice catch kid"... The fact that ten other kids piled on top of me probably kept me from more of a direct intervention, but I got into the clubhouse after the game and got both their autographs on the ball.
THANKS TERESA...
Dang! Thanks for including me on your list.
I didn't get a trackback though. Unless that's a problem with blogger.
Thanks for the link Teresa. You are fighting the good fight. Keep the heat on!
Thank you, Teresa. Keep up the good work.
