Catholic League Responds to "Piss Christ" : Obama Bobblehead With "Feces"
Bill Donohue is a horrible and annoying man and he does more damage to Catholicism than help.
President Obama did not make that execrable and blasphemous work of "art," so what's the point?
You do not advance a religion by denigrating others. This is childish. Catholicism has enough problems without that stupid porky pig crashing around and making a fool of himself.
The primary reason that Catholicism has a problem is that people don't follow it or distort Her teachings. Catholicism isn't the problem. People who are sinners are the problem.
Obviously Donohue didn't want to offend any other religion so he couldn't do a Mohammed in feces. Obama is treated as if her were God by the Left so by making his Obama feces thingy he was trying to make a point about art but more specifically the type of crap that is considered "art" such as "Piss Christ".
I don't understand how you could think Bill Donohue's defending the Faith could be harmful to the Church. We need someone who is outspoken and adds a little bit of the dramatic to the defense of Catholicism. Sometimes you their needs to be a statement made loud and clear,or provocative like the way Randall Terry stands up and defends the unborn.
I thought it was funny. To me "childish" equals humor and poking a little fun.
Let's see why would he choose Obama? Cause he's attacking the Church left and right. Cause he's like the biggest hypocrite on the planet when it comes to defending religions. He only defends the Muslim extremists. People like Obama have brought the smoke of Satan into the Church.
Calling someone porky pig is mean and undignified and acting stupidly IMO.
Donohue has as much right to free speech as the artists who produced the piss christ and the dung madonna, among other garbage that passes for art. I think he's cleverly making a point about the inappropriateness of tax payers funding such projects.
First I want to say my response could have been a bit kinder and for that I'm sorry. I've been a bit emotional lately, so sad for my loss that it has affected my reactions/words. I tried not to let it but it has.
"It also took a lot of enablers, excuse-makers and people who looked the other way."
I agree. But those people weren't/aren't doing Christ's work so they are distorting Catholicism. But some were utterly naive or too trustful but weren't necessarily trying to be an accomplice to sin or cover things up. I'm not saying this is right but some may have left it to God to take care of.
Thank you, Teresa. My response could have been more charitable as well.
At least you have an excuse, recovering from surgery, which I understand from your previous posts was not just a simple medical decision.
But the man just gets on my nerves, and like millions of Catholics, I am angry and saddened by the battering our church has taken. What's worse, the wounds are self-inflicted.
I just don't think his tone and actions such as this are helpful.
But I appreciate your perspective and please understand I was in no way attacking you or even trying to pick a fight.
"But I appreciate your perspective and please understand I was in no way attacking you or even trying to pick a fight."
I didn't think you were attacking me or trying to pick a fight.
I will admit his playdough bobblehead creation was childish. For some reason that what's I like about it. It doesn't hurt anyone but pokes some fun at our current president. Plus, it pokes fun at the ludicrousness of the funding for art these days, and what constitutes art.
I guess I just think sometimes statements need to be made and people like Bill Donohue are needed to make certain statements.
I will admit that the battering the Church has taken was in part self-inflicted. Outside influences also were a factor.

Yes it is. How many people has he brought to Catholicism? It looks to me like he's turned more people off with his tone.
"People like Obama have brought the smoke of Satan into the Church"
It also took a lot of enablers, excuse-makers and people who looked the other way.
Silverfiddle,

What I mean to say is we have to separate the sinner or the human from Christ's Church and Her teachings.
Can't think of anything else at the moment but if I do I'll add to this.
God Bless my Brother in Christ.
I am in full agreement with you Cube.
