Mark Levin defends conservative principles, castigates consultant class and GOP establishment

H/T Daily Caller

Should we compromise on raising taxes? If it mean avoiding going over the fiscal cliff? Or, do you agree with Mark Levin? No compromise and stand firm on principle?  Elections have consequences so maybe we should compromise, at least to a certain extent? Raise taxes to 37 percent on anyone making a million dollars or more but lower the corporate tax rate by 5 percent and close certain loopholes? What do you think? This is not ideal but we need to work within the confines of reality, that we have a Democrat in the White House and a Democrat controlled senate.

Washington needs to be taken to the wood shed.

The GOP House gains nothing by digging in its heels and allowing us to go over the fiscal cliff.

They will lose the blame game and Obama and the Democrats will win.

The GOP is ensnared in a trap of their own making. This is what happens when you have no principles, no message and fundamental beliefs other than the acquisition of raw power.

The Democrat party has a simple message: Governmental care and compassion. Agree or disagree with it, and fiscal responsibility be damned, but everyone, left, right and center knows what the democrats stand for.

Does anyone know what the GOP stands for?

Personally, I'm going to derive perverse pleasure watching the GOP weasels squirm and finally bow and scrape before Obama and the democrats.

They will eventually cave and go along to get along, as the Dem overlords throw them a few political patronage scraps to take back to their districts.

I don't know how they recover after they fall in line, but like all unprincipled people who ignore reality until they no longer can because it has bitten them in the ass, they have no good options left.

I have to say that the GOP had better come up with a plan and stick to it and hang tight the purse strings.

Silver did make some excellent points.

And like Odie, said, a butt-whooping wouldn't hurt either for both sides. :)

As usual, I agree with SF's points, but would caution the GOP to walk a fine line between being negotiating and compromising....and giving way on sound fiscal principles.

The Democrats have to understand that entitlements should be just as vulnerable to cuts [if not more...much more] than defense.

COMPROMISING IS JUST ANOTHER FORM OF KICKING THE CAN DOWN THE ROAD. THOSE WHO KNOW HISTORY UNDERSTAND THAT. REMEMBER THE GREAT COMPROMISE OF 1850 AUTHORED BY HENRY CLAY. IT DID NOTHING BUT POSTPONE THE CIVIL WAR BY SOME 10 YEARS. PRINCIPLES IN THE END WILL ALWAYS CARRY THE DAY---COMPROMISE ONLY PUSHES THAT FINAL SOLUTION TO THE NEXT GENERATION.
