Deconstructing The 'Forward' Campaign Slogan and Obama's Marxist Love Triangle

Here is Barack Obama's new campaign slogan:

Now, do you honestly think that the Mao loving progressives who surround the President didn't/don't know about the historical significance of the motto 'Forward'? Glenn Beck takes a look into Obama's Marxist roots and some people who have influenced him while he was growing up and during his later years.

I am reposting a some examples of Soviet and Mao propaganda pictures which reveal the historical significance into the meaning of the slogan 'Forward'.

From The Blaze:
Between Stalin and Mao at least 70 million or more were killed. Is this the kind of “forward” thinking and moving the president truly seeks to resurrect in his slogan?

There is a saying ironically coined by Maya Angelou: “The first time someone shows you who they are, believe them.”

After hearing of the new slogan Forward Prof. Paul Kengor went back through his research for his new book, "The Communist" which outlines Frank Marshall Davis' influence on the future President, and found that the slogan was mentioned with relation to Davis.

From The Blaze:
In an issue of the The Chicago Star — the communist Chicago newspaper where Davis was a columnist –about May Day 1948, there’s a curious, almost-full-page quote:

The quote is from August Spies. Not surprisingly, as one site explains, he has a checkered past:

He became involved in trade union activities and joined the Socialist Labor Party in 1877. Three years later he began contributing to the anarchist journal, Arbeiter Zeitung, and became editor in 1880.
Spies developed a reputation for his violent speeches. In October 1885 he told a meeting of the Central Labor Union that: “We urgently call upon the wage-class to arm itself in order to be able to put forth against the exploiters such an argument which alone can be effective – violence.”

More reason to vote the Communist(sympathizer)-in-Chief out of office in November.

I believe you pretty much summed up Obama's stance. He never faltered from it, and yet his blind followers never once questioned it or seem to see the correlation between him and former dictators.

I am proud I didn't vote for him in '08 and 2012. I want this despicable man out of office.

But, but, Mitt Romeny cut the hair off of a Gay Gut's head 50 years ago?
Let's no forget that!
And at the same time that Obama decided to support gay marriage!
Wow, how things work when you get Desperate!

Found more info on the "Forward" slogan and Wikipedia. I really hope the Obama campaign does move "forward"...right off the cliff.

Leticia,

I could never vote for a man who believes in evil, like abortion. I am proud not to have voted for him in '08 and will definitely not be voting for him in 2012.

Debonair Dude,

Liberalism kills all the fun in life, or tries to. Their making a mountain out of a molehill of an innocent prank yet they ignore Obammy's drug addiction while in high school. By their silence does that mean that they approve of Obama's drug use?

Exactly, Odie! Stop the Communist infiltration!

TCL,

Thank you for sending that link my way. I will either update my post with a hat tip to you or I will write another post with a hat tip.

Obama going "Forward"... off the cliff would be good for us and the country. Unfortunately, right now he is taking us right with him. We must stop that with our votes in November.

I see you guys are still playing the "guilt by association" game. I would go in depth about how President Obama is not trying to take up down a Marxist/Communist path, but it would be a waste of time.

I will say it's a reach to say that his campaign slogan "Forward" has some sinister meaning. For one thing, "forward" is a fairly common and innocuous word. Also, if you're going to paint President Obama as a Communist/Marxist for using the word, are you going to do the same for then-President Nixon and the state of Wisconsin?

http://thinkprogress.org/election/2012/05/01/474507/right-wing-claims-obamas-new-campaign-slogan-reveals-his-secret-communist-andor-fascist-allegiances/

"Their making a mountain out of a molehill of an innocent prank yet they ignore Obammy's drug addiction while in high school."

I don't believe the incidents Romney committed in high school should be held against him today. However, calling them "innocent pranks" is putting it mildly. If a group of people held you down while one of them forcibly cut your hair, would you call that an "innocent prank"? Also, if it's true Romney “giggled hysterically" after walking a blind teacher into a closed door, are you going to shrug that off as an "innocent prank" too. If I recall correctly, you are blind in one eye. If so, I'd think you'd have a certain level of understanding in regards to what was allegedly done by Romney to a blind teacher.

Can you provide factual evidence that President Obama was a drug addict? I know he admitted to "inhaling frequently" back then. However, this does not make one an addict.

Malcolm,

The slogan "Forward" may be innocuous but the fact that he grew up being influenced by Marxists and surrounds himself with Marxists Today does not bode well for him using that slogan.

Here is what I found on Obama's drug use in high school:

In his memoir, Obama talked about routinely getting high. “Junkie. Pothead,” he wrote. “That’s where I’d been headed: the final, fatal role of the young would-be black man.” But, according to Obama, he only got high because he was contemplating deep matters: drugs could “push questions of who I was out of my mind.”
Obama told students in 2007 that this activity constituted “goofing off” and “wasting time”:
"I will confess to you that I was kind of a goof off in high school as my mom reminded me," Obama said. "I went to high school in Hawaii, so there's a lot of opportunity to goof off because the weather is really good all the time …
"You know, I made some bad decisions …. You know, got into drinking and experimenting with drugs. There was a whole stretch of time where I didn't apply myself. It wasn't until I got out of … high school, and went to college that I started realizing, man, I wasted a lot of time.”

I had only heard of the hair cutting prank. I just don't see that as being a traumatic event, more in the prank category - in all good fun. I hadn't heard about Romney walking a blind teacher into a closed door. That is mean and ignorant IMO. No person should do that to another individual. That is uncalled for.

Yes, I am blind in one eye. I am surprised you remembered. Have a good night.

Teresa: Who are the Marxists that President Obama surrounds himself with today? In addition to names, can you provide examples that prove they are Marxist?

You accused President Obama of being a drug addict. The passage you included above only points to what I and everyone else already knows: he used drugs in his youth. Again, can you provide factual evidence that he was a drug addict?

As I said, I'm not going to point to the hair cutting incident as something that shows what type of man Romney is today. However, I can't believe you are defending it. According to eyewitnesses, the kid who forcibly had his hair cut was in tears. If any liberal politician had done the same thing during their high school days, I doubt you'd refer to it as "all good fun". I know I wouldn't.

"I am surprised you remembered."

One thing you will learn about me is that I have a very good memory about certain things.

Drug use and addiction can be the same thing. My point was that the MSM completely ignored Obama's history of drug use while in high school while are beating the Mitt Romney prankster story to death. You did see that Obama admitted that he was a junkie or/and a pothead? He admitted experimenting with drugs in high school. He didn't say it was a one time thing but rather said this happened during high school, and not even just during one particular year in high school. In fact his not applying himself and drug use/experimentation seem to coincide with one another, at least according to his own words.

Malcolm said...

Teresa, drug use and addiction can be the same thing. However, they can also be different and you haven't provided any evidence that President Obama was an addict. He didn't admit to being either a junkie or a pothead. What he said is that's where he was headed. Even if he was addicted to drugs when he was younger, would it necessarily have any bearing on who he is today?

Also, your claim that the MSM completely ignored President Obama's past drug use is not true. I found the following links in just a few minutes:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/09/us/politics/09obama.html?_r=1&pagewanted=all

http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2007/11/20/4438981-obama-speaks-on-past-drug-use?lite

By the way, what the hell does "Obammy" mean?

Also, most of the coverage surrounding the Romney incidents is not about the incidents themselves, but Romney's handling of the revelations. Many political pundits have pointed out that these incidents don't necessarily reflect on who Romney is today. However, what they have questioned is:

1. Him chuckling during an interview when asked about the incident.

2. Saying he doesn't remember doing it.

In regards to the last one, it's possible Romney doesn't remember. However, I find it hard to believe he doesn't. It's not like he's being accused of shaking someone's hand with a joy buzzer.

Malcolm:

Alright *Uncle*

I just searched the net and found about the same number of articles covering each story. A couple of the articles I read made it seem like the MSM didn't cover Obama's drug use in high school so that's the reason I got the impression that the MSM didn't cover the story. I guess that's what you (meaning me) get when you have less time to verify information.

But I will say one thing: there is definitely a positive spin (or they try to) on a few of the MSM stories which covered Obama's drug use while the MSM is trying make a monster out of Mitt Romney even though he apologized for his antics during high school. http://www.myfoxdetroit.com/dpp/news/local/romney-apologizes-for-'dumb'-high-school-pranks-20120511

And, yes, I find drug use and/or experimentation far more troubling than high school pranks.

If Romney didn't see this prank as being a big deal then it is possible that he forgot the prank even took place. Do you think its possible that the boy who got his hair cut is remembering correctly about the events that took place so long ago? I am not saying that the prank didn't happen but sometimes memories can be skewed like which has been proven in some cases of hypnotism and abuse cases. Mitt may not just see it as a big deal but remember differently (or not remember) but it may have been a big deal.

And one thing about the whole "he did it because the guy was gay" mantra. That is ludicrous. It is stated that the guy came out of the closet years later and that Romney didn't do the prank because the kid was gay but just because that's what some kids do in high school. Let's just say I don't buy that meme.
I found this interesting - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kTOlU0IJSY&feature=related

Malcolm said...

Teresa: You certainly have a different definition of "prank" than I do. If they had given the kid a haircut while he was sleep, I'd say it was a prank. However, holding someone down and cutting their hair while they are screaming for help crosses the line. Again, had this been a liberal politician who was accused of what Romney did, I think you'd have a different perspective.

As for the recollection of John Lauber (the kid who got his hair cut by Romney), that's a moot point... he died in 2004. The Washington Post story about the incident is based on the accounts of 5 students who attended Cranbrook, one of whom helped hold the kid down while Romney cut his hair. Do you think they are all remembering it wrong?

"And, yes, I find drug use and/or experimentation far more troubling than high school pranks."

Were you also troubled by George W. Bush's substance abuse problems?

Romney said:

"I don't remember that incident and I certainly don't believe that I -- I can't speak for other people of course -- thought the fellow was homosexual," he went on. "That was the furthest thing from my mind back in the 1960s, so that was not the case."

I think Romney is talking out of both sides of his mouth. I find it funny he doesn't recall the hair cutting incident, but remembers what he thought about the young man.

Thanks for the link to the excerpt from the president's book. What about it did you find interesting?

Also, what does "Obammmy" mean?

One other thing, are you still working on answers to my questions regarding the so-called Marxists that President Obama surrounds himself with today?

MathewK said...

All I gotta say is obama and his liberals can go forward, left, right, back, wherever they want to. The rest of us need to go in the opposite direction. Otherwise they will be the ruin of us all.

Teresa said...

Malcolm,

By "in his administration" I meant the duration of the time Obama has been President.

Here is a list:

Kathleen Sebelius
Van Jones
Donald Berwick
Anita Dunn
Cass Sunstein
John Holdren
Ron Bloom

One example of Marxism is the HHS mandate which Sebelius is instituting and violates our right to religious freedom. The denial of religious freedom or the denial of citizens right to practice one's beliefs according to their religion's precepts is one of the steps on the road to Socialism/Communism.

I will give you more examples soon.

I am appalled to imagine that the people who posted these comments share the same space called the United States of America that I do.

How can anyone possibly call this man a dictator?

Ignorance and fear breeds discontent. I can see it also breeds a truly warped sense of perception.

Step out of your homes and attempt to go further than your nearest mall or fast food restaurant people…gasps…possibly walk away from the television set...take a look at what is going on outside of your bubbles.

It's comments like these that validate what the rest of world views Americans to be: uneducated closeminded morons.

Please get your head out of the sand, Obama supporter. Investigate the facts about Obama, stop drinking the liberal Kool-Aid, and you will see the truth about Obama. Obama's policies have led to many college graduates being unemployed. If you want to have a chance at good employment then vote for Mitt Romney.

The Republican followers suffer from a pandemic case of amnesia. It amazes me that how soon we forget about the 1000's of soldiers that have lost their lives to a war based on a lie (WMD). Clinton got us out of the first Bush wars and set records on Wall Street will reducing unemployment. Now Obama is cleaning up after the Great Recession and cleaning up another bogus Bush fight. There is only 2 ways Republicans make money. 1-stealing from the poor and 2. Creating false wars that will generate capital for their special interest groups. When you vote Republican this year be sure to say it with pride when Romney has us fighting again. Be sure to tell your family, friends and neighbors who are burying their loved ones; that you voted for this. Before you respond, tell me the last time a Republican was in office that we didn't have a major conflict that cost lives. Keep those bumper stickers on your cars, because I will want to personally thank you.
