Penn Jilette Blasts Obama on Marijuana Chuckle While 1 in 6 are Doing Time in Prison for Smoking Weed {Language Alert!}

I am for States' rights with regard to marijuana. I am against the dumping of marijuana users in prison for persons simply having smoked weed. And, yes, I do believe that marijuana provides relief for some medical conditions.

I'm leaning more and more towards legalization or some type of decriminalization of pot. It should be treated like alcohol.

BTW, Jilette is fast becoming one of my favorite atheists.

Obama ... you broke the law!

Agree with handling this at a state level. Trying to throw one nation-wide blanket rule over a controversial issue is asking for problems.

However, the Medical Marijuana law here in Oregon is grossly abused. It gets really tiresome listening to 19 year old healthy hippies carrying on about their "terrible pain" for which MJ is the only viable "medicine."

I am a states rights man right down the line. As for marijuana, years back I smoked it with no problem. If a state should decide to decriminalize it by popular vote I would have no problem with that, however if a few elected officials sitting in the statehouse do it just to increase tax revenues then I would oppose that effort.

I am against legalizing marijuana because those that I have seen using it for medicinal purposes are abusing it and are drug addicts.

Sorry, no dice.

Silverfiddle,

I agree that marijuana should be treated like alcohol.

Odie,

What a shock! This Pres. Nah...

Innominatus,

Unfortunately even good things can be abused. Even prescription drugs. Handling this at the state level is the most logical solution.

Ron,

I am in full agreement with you.

Leticia,
Leticia,

I used to feel the same way as you until.... after dealing with the worst pain I had experienced due to my endo and hardly anything would help and not for very long so as a desperate measure I tried some of the "stuff" and it helped me so much.

I think of it this way, there are plenty of people who abuse alcohol but would you want that banned? If not, why should marijuana be any different? Plus marijuana is safe in comparison to alcohol.

Teresa, my dad was alcoholic and I would have LOVED to see that banned as well.

I know that sometimes there things that don't help pain.

But I just can't get around the use of narcotics.

I have seen it abused by people I love and to me it's just not worth the risk.

I don't know what your condition is. But I have found that acupuncture, chiropractic and ultrasound therapy, can do wonders for those who have chronic pain.
