Guns: Reason Why Switzerland Has The Lowest Crime Rate
This is a great story, an one that was unexpected from a european country. Their soldiers get to keep their weapons at home and after leaving service still get to keep them---thats amazing. And the crime rate---not surprising under the circumstances.
The truth is that the police is a reactionary force. Most times they are responding to situations that have already happened. In fact, it has been demonstrated through lawsuits that the police have to obligation to protect individual citizens, but society as a whole. This leaves the preponderance of responsibility on the individual to protect themselves. Expecting the police to protect you in any and every circumstance is almost a guarantee that you will be victim in the worst fashion.
I suggest that anyone who is interested in defending the second amendment to read Dr. John R. Lott's More Guns, Less Crime.
What I really like was the observation about the Holocaust. Hitler never attempted to invade the Swiss he went right around them. The last thing a tyrant wants is a well armed population.

I like being on the cutting edge.
I don't know what is so hard for people to understand about this.
When was the last time a story came out about how the police stopped someone from being mugged, raped, killed, or usually all three.
