Yesterday, I was the flipping through the channels and found myself watching the television show called, Stossel by John Stossel. It just so happened that he was hosting a show where his audience and guests were debating the relevance of Ayn Rand's book, Atlas Shrugged in today's times. It was very interesting. I definitely want to start reading this Atlas Shrugged very soon. Here are the first four parts of the show.

You should read all of Rand's writings. Yeah, hippies try to dismiss her works as sophomoric and fantasy, but I think if you at least read Anthem, The Fountainhead, and Atlas, you will see why they are clearly not.
The guest in the last clip has it completely right "safety second and freedom first". Teresa, we have lost more freedoms in my lifetime in the name of public safety than to any other single thing. Law after law has been passed to protect us from ourselves, far too many to go into. I'm sure you can think of many yourself. We are becoming a great nanny state with big brother wanting to control every aspect of our daily life's in the name of public safety. I for one have had enough. Its been an insidious process with a few laws one year and a few more the next and now we are buried under the weight of big government---not only federal, but state and local as well. We are losing our freedoms one by one and sadly few see this.
Thanks for posting this Teresa. I didn't see the show and am interested in seeing what they have to say. I am almost finished reading "Atlas Shrugged" and what happens in the book is relevant to today's times. I'll be taking some time to watch the videos.
Teresa, I am currently around page 300 something on Atlas Shrugged. It is an amazing book. I will bookmark this post of yours for later. thanks.
I can't get past the ideas of hippies dismissing ANYTHING, except work.
This book is high on my list of read as well.
Who is John Gault?
I started off light with Anthem an will be starting in on Atlas Shrugged as soon as my kindle gets fixed.
Excellent vids. The guests pretty much destroyed the one-dimensional questions from the audience. Of course, many in the audience attempted Alinsky rule # 5.
A book called SAVE PEBBLE DROPPERS & PROSPERITY is cited in claysamerica.com, providing reasons for America’s success in a world unable to achieve freedom, prosperity and success, other than dictatorship and special interest elite bennies. It covers psychological foundations for prosperity, and the simple elements of prosperity listed in claysamerica.com. They are great Tea Party justifications for those new to politics. Activate the brakes to Obama’s headlong rush to European Marxism and bigger government. Individualism and freedom is still too strong for the kind of centralizing power-grab we are experiencing today. Claysamerica.com
