Martha Coakley is Soft on Criminals Who Commit Sex Crimes

There are some things that have happened during my life that I will NEVER forget. I have been sexually assaulted twice in my life. While this can never be forgotten, I do believe that time can heal both physical and psychological wounds. I will not tolerate politicians, judges, or any others who are soft on criminals or believe that criminals deserve every break in the book. I will not tolerate those who allow and/or aid others in sexual crimes in any way, shape, or form. I am appalled at Martha Coakley's blatant ignorance toward this horrific crime. I am outraged at her lackadasical approach in helping this innocent 23- month- old victim who was raped by her Uncle, who just happened to be a police officer. It is unconscionable that Coakley avoided the horrible reality and evil nature of this crime combined with her ineptitude in NOT making sure that this monster was kept off of the streets. Coakley has shown that she doesn't have the moral fiber or common sense to be a Senator of Massachusetts. She obviously favors the criminal over the victim. She makes me sick!

We need to encourage women and teenagers to come forward when they are sexually violated. I am so sick of this upside down world and how some people treat victims as if they are the criminals, and how some people treat criminals as if they are the victims. This makes no sense to me. I do realize that the police must verify the victims claim is true. I also, understand the police must make sure to the best of their ability that they are arresting the correct criminal. That is a good thing. That is the police officers doing their job. I would expect nothing less from the police. But, as citizens, we must not put up with pure and utter incompetence, people looking the other way, harsh treatment of victims, lax treatment of sexual deviants by officials who are supposed to be speaking up for the weak, and people who are supposed to be looking out for victims, but in fact, DON'T. This is inexcusable!!! We need to make sure that these criminals are held accountable for their crimes.

We must stop these criminals from hurting even more victims than they have already. We must be aware of these types of predators in our neighborhoods and in public areas. We must be alert at all times and be like shields for children, keeping them away from these sexual deviants. Keeping kids safe should be a top priority for us all regardless of whether you are a parent or not.
Here is an article by Mary Katherine Ham of The Weekly Standard regarding Martha Coakley treatment of rape & molestation cases:

Two weeks before the special election to replace Sen. Edward Kennedy, the Boston Globe brings attention to criticism Democratic candidate Martha Coakley got in 2005 for seeming lax in the treatment of a rape suspect. Coakley's camp cannot be happy with the recounting of this story in the local paper:

In October 2005, a Somerville police officer living in Melrose raped his 23-month-old niece with a hot object, most likely a curling iron.

Keith Winfield, then 31, told police he was alone with the toddler that day and made additional statements that would ultimately be used to convict him.

But in the aftermath of the crime, a Middlesex County grand jury overseen by Martha Coakley, then the district attorney, investigated without taking action.

It was only after the toddler’s mother filed applications for criminal complaints that Coakley won grand jury indictments charging rape and assault and battery.

Even then, nearly 10 months after the crime, Coakley’s office recommended that Winfield be released on personal recognizance, with no cash bail. He remained free until December 2007, when Coakley’s successor as district attorney won a conviction and two life terms.

Coakley argues that she followed all appropriate procedures, that the suspect had deep roots in the community and no criminal record, giving her little reason to ask for cash bail.

Still the Globe's description of the crime is pretty devastating, as are the quotes from the victim's family and the fact that the victim spent a month in the hospital recovering from burns.

There's also a timely, local angle that will give this story an even more visceral quality for voters:

Recently, the question of bail in child rape cases made local headlines when a Kingston man was accused of raping a 3-year-old girl while free on $10,000 cash bail, which was imposed after an earlier charge of breaking and entering and raping a 5-year-old girl. Prosecutors had recommended $200,000 cash bail after the first alleged rape, but a judge would not agree to it.

Jules Crittenden, on Coakley's justifications:

Well, be that as it may, there are always good reasons to do nothing. The annals of Massachusetts justice are full of them. The morgues of Massachusetts newspapers are full of stories about the further rapes and murders that followed.

Back to Coakley’s run, this is just the latest friendly fire. Earlier the Globe wacked her for a go-lightly deal that left the late infamous diddler priest, John Geoghan, free to diddle.

I am sorry to hear you were assaulted and my heart goes out to you. Your post is excellent and anyone hearing that Coakley was so negligent will definitely have second thoughts about her integrity.

Martha Coakley, like almost all progressives is soft not only on those who commit sex crimes, but all crimes. Just the nature of the beast. I will never figure out how they feel than can change these people, when they themselves are never open to change.

SUPPORT SCOTT BROWN

Christopher,
She has no place in public office with that mentality.

Sounds great!!

TCL,
Hopefully, I will finish and publish " My True Story" soon, so it will help others avoid what I went through. I hope people change their minds after hearing how Coakley's negligence.

Ron,
These Libs want everyone to change around them and cater to their liking. They need to start standing up for victims.

Well, she's an idiot, just like judge sonya, who had 65% of her decisions overturned by a 4-9ths liberal supreme court, many of them 9 to zero.

And now she's on the supreme court.

coakley would be par for the course, but I'm hopeful.

Sorry to hear about the assaults, Teresa, Coakley's approach is all to hideously familiar to us in the UK, having lived under the Marxist tyranny of Labour for the last thirteen years. The next step for these commies will be to start arresting the victims of crime for having the audacity to defend themselves while the perps walk free, just as they are doing in Britain.

Teresa, you said: "Coakley has shown that she doesn't have the moral fiber or common sense to be a Senator of Massachusetts."

Actually, Coakley has shown that she DOES have exactly what it takes to represent Massachusetts. Look at Ted Kennedy, the lush, philanderer and killer who kept getting re-elected time after time, and Barney Fwank, the pervert extraordinaire, the homosexual pedophile who keeps getting re-elected to the House.

That kind of speaks volumes about the citizens of Massachusetts, wouldn't you say?

Of course I am hoping and praying that she loses.

The Kid,
She is definitely an idiot. I just hope she's not elected on Tuesday.

Teresa said...

Barking Spider,
I hope that NEVER happens here. I would think that there would be a huge outcry by the public if the commies started arresting the victims of crimes. We must stop these commies/Labour before they destroy both our countries.

Most Rev. Gregori,
I see your point. But, I believe over the past 20 years the people of MA have opened there eyes so I still believe that she doesn't have the moral fiber to properly represent citizens of MA.

OMG, Teresa, how awful. I'm so sorry you had to go through that. The more I learn about you, the more I admire you!

And I couldn't agree more, Croakley is about herself and her career / drive to power. She could care less about children or women . . . or anyone but herself. Typical liberal politician. Heck, maybe a typical any kind of politician. Time to clean house! Both houses. Let's start by doing all we can to help Scott Brown in MA!!

The more people find out about her, the worse it gets for the Dems. Now, Obugger is going to campaign for her. We know how well that worked out last time.

To think that the crime against this little girl went unpunished is unbearable. There are so many Coakley's in the justice system. She must not go to the Senate. Maybe the high-profile this crime is now getting will see her staying at home in Massachusetts with a lot of time on her hands.

It's important to write about these things Teresa. You are brave to do so.

Hi Teresa: Thank you for writing this excellent piece about that criminal coakley. She is just so horrid, what she did, words cannot express it.

Words cannot express, also, How sorry I am to read of your being assaulted twice! Once is distressing enough. I agree with many of our friends, and Especially Fuzzy, where she says "the more I learn about you, the more I admire you".

You are a courageous woman, and writing that book will be the best catharsis for you, and help for others, too. God Bless you, Teresa and you're in my prayers, as always.

Martha is filth. I pray I'll be able to celebrate her humiliation on Tuesday.

What a scumbag, surprising though. Usually leftists are gung-ho about going after cops, if for example some cop searches the house of some piece of crap without a warrant and finds dead bodies, the aclu and every leftist in the nation would fight tooth and nail to make the murderer walk free.

So it's surprising that she didn't demand that this scumbag be hung, drawn and quartered, I guess their fascination with a baby-rapist outweighs their common dislike of the police.

I'm always amazed at how backward our legal system is. We send people to prison for years for possessing drugs, but many sex offenders get probation or a few months.

Any candidate (regardless of party) that is weak on sex crimes deserves to fail.

The liberals always plea for voters to make history.
Well what better history than to say, "...no taxation without representation..."
Unfortunately our schools have edited this notion from our history books...

The Republican party needs more Scott Browns.
What this shows is that there is no such thing as a "safe seat". The People are outraged and aren't looking to party leadership to fix the situation. The RNC needs to make sure they encourage Constitutional Conservatives to run in every race. 2010 is about doing the will of the People. If the RNC is smart, they'll make sure their candidates meet and understand this, then stand back and not screw it up.

Obama's numbers would be a lot worse with an objective media and without his person likability. It's probably what people sense about Obama that's killing him. He always seems to press the wrong button. The slide really started over beer-gate.This was a huge unforced error that defined Obama as a person for a lot of people. The over protection of anything Muslim, isn't doing him any favors. People want a staunch American president, not a world president. He has sold us down the road all around the world. In fact there's so many problems with Obama it's almost impossible to focus on one before another one pops up. If it weren't for his ( predigest) high numbers in the African-American Community who overwhelmingly approve of the job he is doing, he'd be holding a 20 percent approval rating right now. But, if the truth be known, less than 10% of those African Americans could identify Harry Reid, Barbara Boxer, Arlen Specter or Newt Gingrich, and most believe that *hope and change* means more money or new cars and lottery tickets for welfare recipients.
The worst part of the legacy of possibly the worst president in history is that, though Americans proved we are overwhelmingly capable of electing an African American president, he's made voters so leery that it's going to be a long time before another black president is elected again.

I lived in Masssachusetts for a while when I was an older teen. I can't for the life of me understand why they keep electing immoral, unscrupulous people, except that there is some kind of elitist snobbery, especially among Bostonians, that says, "We could not possible be wrong...we don't make mistakes."

I hope and pray that they don't have too much pride to admit that they made one (or more) with Kennedy and will not make another by electing that amoral woman.
