A heart wrenching, horrendous shooting at an Orlando, Florida nightclub (well known as a gay bar) has left at least 50 people dead and over 50 individuals injured. My thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to family and friends of those either injured or deceased. May God be with and comfort you during this extremely tough time.
This seems to have been an organized attack by an Islamic jihadist. I have already heard the politically correct mantra calling for tighter gun control. On one news channel journalists were taking aim at the trigger, questioning why citizens are allowed to purchase these types of high-powered guns. The question is not aimed at the right thing or person. The question(s) need to be aimed at the gunman. The gunman succeeded in perpetrating grave evil in the name of Islam. How was this able to happen? The gunman was being watched by law enforcement but they were obviously not on the ball. Did the politically correct code of no profiling thinking get in the way of preventing an act of terrorism? Does law enforcement need to be trained on new protocols and tactics when coming head on with acts of terrorism? I believe the heart of the gunman is the problem, not guns. Our military has access to these types of guns. A citizenry that does NOT have access to the same types of guns as our government would not be suitably equipped to fight against a far overreaching, powerful government that has outwardly violated citizens' rights and ostensibly rejected our constitution should that ever happen. Hopefully this scenario never happens.
I am hoping that law enforcement across our country learn from this horrible massacre so future attacks can be thwarted to avoid anything like this from happening again.
