Sen. Mitch McConnell: President Lobbying Against Keystone XL Pipeline Jobs

Sen. McConnell:
“Last night the two parties reached agreement on amendments to the Highway Bill. I’m happy to report that there are a number of strong job creating measures in the mix. One that stands out is Senator Hoeven’s amendment on the Keystone XL Pipeline.

“Most Americans strongly support building this pipeline and the jobs that would come with it. And it’s incomprehensible to me that the President of the United States is lobbying against it.

“There’s a report this morning that President Obama is personally making phone calls to Democrat Senators he thinks might vote for this amendment. He’s asking them not to. And, frankly, it’s hard to even comprehend how out of touch he is on this issue.

“I mean, think about it: at a moment when millions are out of work, gas prices are skyrocketing and the Middle East is in turmoil, we’ve got a president who’s up making phone calls trying to block a pipeline here at home. It’s unbelievable.

From The Right Sphere:

Well if this doesn’t beat all. Just a couple of weeks after blaming the GOP for the Keystone XL iol pipeline not being built, he’s… wait for it… LOBBYING SENATE DEMOCRATS TO REJECT IT. No, I’m not kidding and this isn’t some joke. It’s 100%  true. From Politico:
President Barack Obama is intervening in a Senate fight over the Keystone XL oil pipeline and personally lobbying Democrats to reject an amendment calling for its construction, according to several sources familiar with the talks.
The White House lobbying effort, including phone calls from the president to Democrats, signals that the vote could be close when it heads to the floor Thursday. The president is trying to defeat an amendment that would give election-year fodder to his Republican critics who have accused him of blocking a job-creating energy project at a time of high gas prices.
OK, let me get this straight.  Just a few weeks ago Obama caved to the far left and rejected the job-creating pipeline himself, then blames Republicans. Now, he’s going to ask Democrats in the Senate to also reject the job-creating pipeline while also blaming Republicans? On what planet does that even make sense?
If Democrats in the Senate vote to kill this pipeline, that’ll be not once but twice that Democrats have rejected creating jobs for Americans in favor of doing favors for their far left base. You know why? It’s because President Obama is only concerned with creating one job this year: a second term for himself.

Yesterday, Senate Democrats blocked the Keystone Pipeline Bill. It is sad folks when a sitting President and his Party lobbies against jobs for the American people.  And, they actually want us to believe that they are for the middle-class?  O.K. When pigs fly.

It makes perfect sense to barack obama and his extremist base. You see those folks want gas prices to be much higher, so that some of their more favored alternative energy sources can become more economically viable.

If gas prices were low, and even if liberals lie through their teeth about the economics of wind, solar and farting, they simply cannot fool people who are burning through their budgets to pay for the wind farm.

I just hope there are enough in the media who will spread the word on what obama is doing now, it's shameful and unbecoming of a president to knowingly screw over his own citizens for political gain.

I'm not surprised by Marxists blocking any private sector job creator.

Right Wing Theocrat is right on: Make gas prices sky high so green looks relatively cheaper. Increase subsidies, and maybe they can get more Americans to buy buy those battery powered crap boxes from Government Motors.

If you want to lay blame for the high gas prices look to the rich people that manipulate the prices, not the president. There are serious safety factors that go with the pipeline that the media seems willing to ignore like the software to detect problems in the pipeline. Look at how many problems this company has had in canada.

Unknown,

If Obama's main concern was safety he could have worked through that issue, especially with having at least two years to work them out. Stop making excuses for a president who seems hell bent on crippling our economy and creating more dependency on our government. Stop being an Obamabot.
